The National Gloria Steinem Leadership Institute is an intense, five-day training in leadership and grassroots activism that helps emerging leaders develop the skills necessary to mobilize their communities for reproductive freedom. More than 50 students and young pro-choice activists from across the nation are selected. The GSLI is held in Washington, D.C. and is free for participants.
At the GSLI you will:
• Talk with health professionals and visit a local women’s clinic
• Participate in workshops with experts from progressive movements
• Get up-to-date facts about legislation and reproductive health worldwide
• Learn about public education, fundraising, and lobbying
• Learn fundamental skills like working with media and opposition research
• Participate in Direct Action Organizing sessions from the United States Student Association
• Take part in role-playing sessions
• Develop a plan of action to take back to your campus or community
• Lobby your elected representative on Capitol Hill
• Expand your knowledge of reproductive choice issues
• Learn effective strategies for activism
• Develop leadership and organizing skills
• Network with other young pro-choice activists
As a graduate of the Academy, you will return to your community with a national network of fellow pro-choice activists and the long-term support of Choice USA staff, who will help you implement your strategies for change. Please share this with young leaders around the nation.

Letter from Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri
Today, we won the fight to protect sex education in Missouri! In a crushing blow to Governor Blunt's legislative priorities, constituent pressure forced the Missouri legislature to table HB 1075, which would have gutted comprehensive medically accurate sex education programs in Missouri's public schools.
This is a victory you helped achieve! In January, under pressure from anti-choice hardliners, the Governor made it clear that slashing access to information and prevention services was a TOP priority. Planned Parenthood affiliates in Missouri were ready for the battle. Supporters of sex education mobilized like never before – and YOU made the difference!
Unfortunately, the legislature did pass a bill allowing tax credits for disreputable crisis pregnancy centers (CPC's). CPC supporters cleverly linked their bill to tax credits for much needed crisis child care and adoption services.
Thank you for your tireless efforts – flooding the Capitol with tens of thousands of e-mails, phone calls, and lobby visits – up to the very last minute of session. With the message – PUT PREVENTION FIRST – you refused to let legislators ban Planned Parenthood from public schools. And you said
