Then apply now to participate in Choice USA’s upcoming National Gloria Steinem Leadership Institute!
The National Gloria Steinem Leadership Institute is an intense, five-day training in leadership and grassroots activism that helps emerging leaders develop the skills necessary to mobilize their communities for reproductive freedom. More than 50 students and young pro-choice activists from across the nation are selected. The GSLI is held in Washington, D.C. and is free for participants.
At the GSLI you will:
• Talk with health professionals and visit a local women’s clinic
• Participate in workshops with experts from progressive movements
• Get up-to-date facts about legislation and reproductive health worldwide
• Learn about public education, fundraising, and lobbying
• Learn fundamental skills like working with media and opposition research
• Participate in Direct Action Organizing sessions from the United States Student Association
• Take part in role-playing sessions
• Develop a plan of action to take back to your campus or community
• Lobby your elected representative on Capitol Hill
• Expand your knowledge of reproductive choice issues
• Learn effective strategies for activism
• Develop leadership and organizing skills
• Network with other young pro-choice activists
As a graduate of the Academy, you will return to your community with a national network of fellow pro-choice activists and the long-term support of Choice USA staff, who will help you implement your strategies for change. Please share this with young leaders around the nation.
I hope you can join us! Please apply now!
The application deadline is June 1, 2006.
